Part 1 India visit

Upon my arrival at Indore Airport at approximately 7:00 a.m. on May 25th, it was evident that the city had made significant strides in cleanliness, earning the recognition as the cleanest city in India for six consecutive years. This positive transformation was particularly notable as there were no cows roaming the streets, a stark contrast to our visit a decade ago when Indore had a reputation for being unclean. While the claim of being the cleanest city may not be entirely accurate, the undeniable improvement was apparent. However, as we ventured beyond the airport, we encountered stray dogs in the vicinity, indicating areas that still require attention. The condition of the roads during our journey from the airport to our house was quite deplorable, riddled with potholes, bumps, and open gutters scattered throughout the city. Additionally, the traffic situation was nothing short of a nightmare, with a majority of people disregarding traffic signals and driving recklessly. Many intersections lacked proper traffic signals, leading to chaotic driving and pedestrian crossings. Witnessing motorcyclists without helmets, and even three or four individuals riding a single motorcycle, was particularly alarming. Can we expect any changes in the near future? I will provide further details regarding the traffic conditions and driving culture once I venture out again.

Upon reaching home, we took refreshing showers and had a nap. In the evening, we visited a saree shop called Ithlaati Saree Showroom to purchase sarees for Jopy to wear at Joisy's wedding and reception. Unfortunately, the sarees were beyond my budget, and when I checked their online reviews, they were mostly negative, especially the recent ones. I'm not sure why our family chose that shop despite its expensive prices. Later, we went to Manyawar Men's Showroom to buy clothing for me to wear at Joisy's wedding. Due to my slightly bigger stomach, finding clothing in my size was challenging, but I managed to purchase a few items, albeit at a high cost. It was another expensive purchase that evening. Afterward, we decided to have dinner at WOW, a 4-star hotel where Joisy used to work. They have a restaurant inside, and I opted for the buffet while the others ordered from the à la carte menu.

We returned home late around 11 p.m. After a long journey from Houston to Indore, we were exhausted, but Joisy was eager for us to see all the ornaments she had purchased for the wedding. She tried on various ornaments and dresses until we finally convinced her to stop around 3:00 in the morning. Then, we all went to bed.
