The power of love
John 13:34-35
In the Gospel of John, Jesus tells his disciples, "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another."
These words are as relevant today as they were when Jesus first spoke them. In a world that is increasingly divided by hatred and violence, we need to be reminded of the power of love.
The story of the Kerala women who were lured into joining the Islamic State is a tragic reminder of the dangers of hatred and extremism. These women were young and vulnerable, and they were preyed upon by people who promised them a better life. But instead of finding a better life, they found themselves trapped in a world of violence and oppression.
This story is a reminder that we need to be vigilant against the forces of hatred and extremism. We need to speak out against intolerance and discrimination. And we need to show love and compassion to those who are different from us.
The power of love is greater than the power of hate. When we love one another, we break down the walls that divide us. We create a more just and peaceful world.
So let us choose love. Let us choose to see the good in others, even when they are different from us. Let us choose to build bridges, not walls. And let us choose to make the world a more loving place.
If you are interested in learning more about the Kerala story, I encourage you to watch the film "The Kerala Story." It is a powerful and moving film that tells the stories of three young women who were lured into joining the Islamic State. The film is available to watch online.
I also encourage you to get involved in your community and work to promote peace and understanding. There are many organizations that are working to build bridges between different cultures and religions. You can find out more about these organizations online or by contacting your local religious leaders.
Together, we can make the world a more loving place.
